Hi, I am Mayumi.
Welcome to Ganbare Nihongo!
Are you thinking of going to Japan for work or simply experiencing life there? Perhaps you are currently studying Japanese and wish to have a hands-on experience? Have you studied Japanese in the past and want to get back where you left off? Or maybe you’ve always been curious and want to immerse yourself in the culture?
If so, you’ve come to the right place.
Experience
I have been teaching and sharing my knowledge of Japanese for the past 12 years. When working with students, I customize lesson plans to fit their needs. All of my students see progress in their Japanese after just one lesson.
Types of Lessons
All ages and skill levels are welcome!
For my younger students, we focus on learning through speaking, listening, and using visual tools.
For my adult students, we study Japanese through a cultural lens. I place an emphasis on speaking throughout the lesson.
I also do a JLPT preparation course.
Remote lessons available, all geographic locations welcome.
Testimonials
"Before beginning lessons with Mayumi, I had spent countless hours on self-study without noticing any significant improvements. After only a couple of lessons, I already noticed my speaking and listening skills improving dramatically. Mayumi is a dedicated teacher who adapts to how her students learn, and a very good conversational partner!"

"I've been studying Japanese with Mayumi for over three years. She has always done a wonderful job of putting together interesting lessons that have the right mix for my skill levels. And if I don't understand something, she's great at approaching it from a different angle to help me get it. She's also a very friendly and patient person - she never makes me feel frustrated when I'm having difficulty learning something. I look forward to our session every week!
あいかわらずありがとう、マユミ先生!"
